Million Penny Drive 2010

Candlelighters' Kid Zach inspired his school, Jackson Elementary in Janesville, to hold a Penny Drive for Capital Candlelighters. After setting a goal of $250, the kids and staff raised $1104.50 to support area kids with cancer! MacFarlane Pheasants of Janesville helped to boost the excitement by pledging to match what the school raised, and we received a check for $1104.50 from them, as well!

McKenna, a cancer survivor and student at Cottage Grove Elementary School, led her school of 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders in an exciting Penny Wars competition during the month of March. The kids raised $535.22 in just a couple of weeks! The fourth graders collected the most funds and won the privilege of dousing school officials in pie! Here are a few pictures of the fun, plus a shot of McKenna in front of the school sign and McKenna and her sister, Kyra, delivering the check for all the hard work the school did!
